Gregg spent many years painting plein air acquiring a visual vocabulary but found that while he could create pretty pictures, they didn’t tell the story he wanted to depict in his work. Now with dozens of one-person and group shows behind him Gregg paints from his heart and from his fears about climate change and our vanishing natural world, he often usies salmon as his “canary in the coal mine.”
Gregg’s concern for the environment resulted from 45 years living off the grid and working horses in the woods and farm on his homestead on the Colville Reservation, where he works with the tribes planting red band trout, kokanee and chinook salmon in an effort to re-establish the life giving waters of the Cascadia Bio-region, to children of the future.
As a life long fisherman he has experienced the demise of fish in the Pacific Northwest. Gregg hopes that by turning his fishing pole into a brush he can get others to reflect upon their impact on the world we all share.
Gregg’s work can be found in many private collections and at Art House Design in Olympia, the Winthrop Gallery in Winthrop, Washington, frequent shows at the Confluence Gallery in Twisp, Washington and at the Museum of Arts and Culture in Spokane, Washington as well as on-line at www.greggcaudell.com

45 years raising, training and working draft horses on the ranch, came to an end a while back with my last team. Today I spend my time mending fences, chasing grand children and painting. I figure I can push paint around for quite a bit longer. Thanks for checking in. I'll keep you posted.
